About Us
The MA/RI Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the restoration of the American chestnut in our states. We support and work in coordination with The American Chestnut Foundation, other state chapters, and our much-appreciated volunteers and cooperating organizations.
Our orchards are primarily composed of hybrid American chestnuts that incorporate varying amounts of Chinese chestnut blight resistance, and we are always interested in new volunteers and technologies to further these and related goals. Our Annual Meetings usually have a Chestnut Potluck with delicious food; we like to have fun and we work hard. We wish to welcome all interested in this work restoring this beautiful keystone species.

If you're around Providence, Rhode Island and haven't seen TACF's Clear Day Thunder documentary yet, this is a great chance!Join us for a screening of "Clear Day Thunder," a documentary by The American Chestnut Foundation, at the RIHS on Thursday, April 25th at 6pm. Discover the inspiring efforts to restore this ecologically and economically significant tree species, the American Chestnut. Unfortunately, the Chestnut was decimated by Cryphonectria parasitica in the late 1800s, rendering it functionally extinct. Witness the inspiring dedication of citizen scientists and researchers in saving this vital species. Registration is required for this free event. Have you ever seen a chestnut rowing down the river? Well, now's your chance, as Florian Carle, CT Chapter Secretary, spent last fall rowing in regattas all around the Northeast in a boat decorated with our friend Charlie Chestnut!
