Volunteer Work Day at the Cantrell Orchard in TN

July 15, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Help inoculate approximately 120 five-year-old trees. The Cantrell Backcross Orchard, planted in 2012, is the site of one of only two seed orchards in Tennessee where the latest generation of blight resistant trees are being raised and tested. We will carry out blight inoculations here on Saturday, July 15 beginning at 9:00 AM.

Bring water, lunch & snacks, gloves, sun block/sun hat, bug spray, and dress for the weather. Each day we will work through the afternoon or until all the trees are inoculated. Your volunteer effort is making a significant contribution to the restoration of the American chestnut tree to Tennessee forests, so thank you!
