This year at the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, Maine Woodland Owners, is featuring a day-long series of presentations at the Low-Impact Forestry speakers tent. The talks were selected and organized with the interests and concerns of Maine’s woodland owners in mind.
At 11:00AM, Brian Roth, TACF Maine Chapter board member will give a talk titled, “Reintroduction of the American Chestnut:” The American chestnut tree has been absent from the landscape for almost 100 years. Learn about the importance of the American chestnut, the science behind encouraging resistance to chestnut blight, and future challenges. His discussion will cover the location of the best soils, climate considerations, and making room for the new trees in an existing forest. Click here to learn more about the event.
