Calling all Nature Lovers to MassWildlife Headquarters – July 11
July 11 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
If you’re a nature lover and appreciate the beauty and importance of forests, please consider joining us for Weeding Wednesdays at The American Chestnut Foundation’s (TACF) seed production orchard at the MassWildlife Headquarters, 1 Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough, MA between 6:30 and 8:00PM on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (June 13 & 27 and July 11 & 25). The purpose of this orchard is to produce the highest quality chestnut seed to be used for the reintroduction of potentially blight-resistant American chestnut trees back into the 210,000 acres of Wildlife Management Areas across Massachusetts.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to help maintain this orchard and participate in one of the most interesting and important conservation projects of our time. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring along water, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
The chestnut orchard at the MassWildlife Headquarters is located behind the Kopin building which is adjacent to the HQ maintenance building. Parking is available in the MassWildlife visitor parking lot. The orchard can be accessed behind the MassWildlife maintenance building. For more information, call or text TACF’s MA/RI chapter president Lois at 508-667-9685.
