American Chestnut Planting in Ohio

April 21, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Two American chestnut trees will be planted at Spiegel Grove in Fremont, OH during a public ceremony this Friday, April 21. There have not been chestnut trees on the property in many years, and TACF made the donation to bring this type of tree back to Spiegel Grove. TACF’s Ohio Chapter president, Carolyn Keiffer, will speak at the ceremony.

One of the trees will be named for Ralph Billow, who was the buildings and grounds superintendent at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums from 1948-1992 and worked with Hayes family members while they lived in the Hayes Home.

The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is America’s first presidential library and is located at Spiegel Grove at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues. The facility is affiliated with the Ohio History Connection. For information, call 419-332-2081 or click here.
