Chestnut Backcross Orchard Demonstration – June 9th

Event: On June 9th we will have an orchard demonstration at the Salem Backcross Orchard from 9 AM to 11 AM hosted by CT Chapter board member, David Bingham. First we will tour the backcross orchard he established on his property. At this time of year many of the larger sized trees will be in bloom giving us an up close view of the flowering trees. Then we will travel a short distance to his family camp to see one of the oldest native American Chestnut trees in CT which survives on that property. This tree was used as a mother tree for the seeds used in the orchard. We will also have some light refreshments at the Bingham Family Camp.
