Silviculture Research Planting

March 2, 2017

We are excited about this opportunity to test our potentially blight-resistant chestnuts in a Silviculture Research Study, while simultaneously restoring American chestnut to a forest within the chestnuts natural range.

This study will not only get our most advanced trees into the forest, it will provide valuable information on forest planting techniques used for long-term restoration AND we can learn about the Americanness and blight resistance of our most advanced trees in a real forest setting….very cool.

Level of difficulty: moderate
Will hands get dirty: Yes
Fresh air and good folks: Definitely
Note: Bring water, lunch & snacks, gloves, and dress for the weather…also bring hand tools (such as a hand trowel) and a bucket to carry thing around with you.

For questions or more information, contact TACF’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Science Coordinator, Tom Saielli.
