Large quantities of reclaimed American chestnut wood are available through Appalachian Antique Hardwoods, LLC, run by Zac Guy, an enthusiastic and energetic entrepreneur with a strong personal interest in American chestnut restoration.

"I have been in the business since 1995 when I took down an old barn while in high school to get some wormy chestnut for myself to woodwork with," said Zac. "On the way home from the barn site I stopped to refuel and a gentleman asked me to sell what I had on my small trailer."
Zac has since reclaimed wood from over 300 structures across the United States — old barns, outbuildings, industrial sites, and houses. He has even used a team of horses to get American chestnut logs out of the woods.
Availability varies with what Zac is able to locate at any given time. He generally stocks over 30,000 sq. ft. of the following items:— Boards - 1" thick, 4-25 inches wide, 5-16 feet long (all wormy chestnut)— Boards resawn from hand hewn logs taken out of barns, same dimensions as above— Boards -5/8" to 7/8" thick, used for wainscoting and paneling— 8/4 framing stock. 4-14 inches wide, 6-16 feet long, good for doors, table tops, frames, and stair parts— Sawn timbers 6"x 6" up to 12"X12", sawn on 4 sides, excellent fireplace mantles and for timber framing of homes — Hand Hewn logs, many over 14 feet long with 20 inch faces. Entire cabins are always available and whole barns can be blueprinted and re-erected on the customer's site.
Appalachian Antique Hardwoods, LLC also offers American chestnut tongue and groove flooring, paneling, architectural moldings, cabinetry, and custom built furniture.
